Policy Statement
Barrett’s Property Services has health and safety at the forefront of our responsibilities as a company. We are compliant and acknowledge our legal responsibilities to ensure that the health and safety of our clients , workers and the environment are maintained .
Legislation governing health and safety principally includes but not limited to:
Barretts Property Services LTD Health and safety Policy , outlines the duties and obligations of our various company stakeholders regarding a safe working environment.
This Health and Safety Policy has been implemented to ensure the safety of all the employees, contactors, subcontractors and any authorised visitors on the premises. The company fully accepts any rules and regulations enacted by the legislature. The company’s directors will continuously update the proceedings of this document in line with the current HSE legislation.
Barrett’s Property Services Obligations
Barrett’s Property Services are committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment on its premises where such service is being provided. By doing so, Barrett’s Property Services will take all necessary and possible measures to eliminate any hazards, potential risks or damage to themselves or the environment. In addition, Barrett’s Property Services will ensure that all its operations are carried out safely and do not pose any danger to the workers or visitors.
Barrett’s Property Services Responsibilities
Barrett’s Property Services will ensure the following to provide a safe and healthy environment:
Contractors
Barrett’s Property Services will ensure that all contractors working on site under their control are made aware of hazards and local rules so as to be satisfied that the contractors are working safely at all times. At any time, Barrett’s Property Services has the authority to cease work until safe working practices are met.
Contractors are expected to be fit for work when reporting for work and to remain in a fit and safe condition throughout the working day to perform duties. Barrett’s Property Services have the authority to cease work until safe working practices are met.
Contractor responsibilities
General responsibilities
Hazardous substances
Any harmful substances that cannot be eliminated are to be risk assessed. Barrett’s Property Services in addition to contractors, must comply with the working practices and emergency procedures as outlined within Control of Substance Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessments and accompanying safety data sheets before they work with hazardous substances.
Lifting equipment/Manual handling
Machinery may be used which is required for lifting, lowering, pushing or pulling objects. Barrett’s Property Services will ensure that contractors carrying out the activity are fully trained and the equipment used is suitable for the task and suitably maintained.
Where possible, manual handling will be avoided through the use of the mechanical equipment; however where manual handling may be necessary, Barrett’s Property Services will carry out a risk assessment, and training in lifting techniques will be given to contractors which is appropriate to their work activities.
Confined spaces
A confined space can be any space of an enclosed nature where there is a risk to death or serious injury. Barrett’s Property Services will ensure suitable training is provided to those managing, supervising and carrying out work in confined spaces. Contractors will work in accordance with the risk assessment and permit to work for any work activities in confined spaces on behalf of Barrett’s Property Services.
Personal Protective Equipment
PPE must be suitable and sufficient to protect the wearer from the hazard, but also it must fit the wearer, be compatible with other PPE and be provided at no cost to the employee. Barrett’s Property Services and contractors are responsible for ensuring that all persons wear the appropriate protective equipment as determined by the risk assessment. Mandatory PPE, as specified by signage or as part of a risk assessment/ safe system of work, must be always worn whilst carrying out relevant tasks and must not be abused.
First Aid
Enough first aiders or first aid trained employees and adequate first aid equipment will be maintained and accessible to ensure appropriate cover is provided should first aid treatment be required.
Incident reporting
All employees have a duty of care to report health and safety accidents, incidents or dangerous occurrences including near miss events. An incident report is to be completed within 24 hours of the event occurring.
Permit to work
Permits to work form an essential part of a safe system of work for high risk activities and as such are a mandatory requirement for specified categories under this policy.
Data protection
Barrett’s Property Services takes the security of all personal information seriously and complies with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and Data protection Act 2018 (DPA). Information is only shared where there is a legitimate reason for doing so, and when we do, we ensure that the receiving third party is compliant with GDPR and DPA. Review
Barrett’s Property Services seeks the cooperation of all the individuals in this policy. The objective of this policy is to create a safe environment with zero accidents. This policy applies to all the operations related to the company and in situations and places where employees are authorised to work.
This policy will be reviewed by the directors each financial year or sooner if necessary.

Statement
Barretts Property services LTD are committed to ensuring we comply with our legal and regulatory responsibilities , including modern slavery Act 2015 .
We understand that there are essential requirements to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking , we take care to make sure slavery and human trafficking does not exist in any part of our business.

As a company we are committed to paying the living wage to all out staff and we regularly review our terms of employment to make sure that they comply with all relevant legislation.

We manage projects where services and products are sourced from suppliers . Most of these products are not sourced by us directly , but are sourced by our contracted suppliers of services , goods and works.
We are a business that will not work with any business knowingly involved in slavery our human trafficking in any part of its operations , we take the following precautions .

Our policies recognise the benefits of diversity and ensure that all employees have equal opportunities and receive fair treatment. Recruitment to posts are governed by our directors and we recruit on the basis of the skills, knowledge, training which meet the job criteria.
Equal Pay
Contactors are usually paid a mutually agreed day rate unless agreed otherwise (long term contract which involves a set salary). Contractor’s pay is monitored to ensure that anyone working with us is not at a disadvantage.
Contactors will receive equal pay in line with those doing the same line of work; the pay is associated with the skill, knowledge and training required for the role. Barrett’s Property Services Ltd will not adjust anyone’s pay based on their sex, age, religious beliefs, nationality, or personal characteristics.
Commitment
Barrett’s Property Services’ commitment includes training anyone who works with us about their rights and responsibilities under the equality, diversity and our inclusion policy.
Those who are working with us must understand they, as well Barrett’s Property Services, can be held liable for acts of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination, in the course of their employment, against fellow employees, customers, suppliers and the public.
We take complaints seriously of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination by fellow contractors, customers, suppliers, visitors, the public and any others during the Barrett’s Property Services’ working activities.
Particularly serious complaints could amount to gross misconduct and lead to dismissal without notice.
Further, sexual harassment may amount to both an employment rights matter and a criminal matter, such as in sexual assault allegations. In addition, harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997- which is not limited to circumstances where harassment related to a protected characteristic- is a criminal offence.
Should anyone wish to report any incidents of discrimination, they will need to report to one of the directors in the first instance; or if anyone feels as though they are being bullied or harassed during their working time with Barrett’s Property Services, they will need to report it to one of the directors (information found in the contact details pack provided).
Barrett’s Property Services have the right to cease work from any team member who is found to have committed acts of harassment, bullying or discrimination. We take a strict approach to any breaches of this policy.
